Description: On 16th September, 2023 as a part of it’s glorious Sesquicentennial Celebrations, Loreto Lucknow hosted a Principals’ Meet which had in attendance Principals from Loreto Schools all over India. The theme of the event was Shaan-E-Awadh, a beautiful display of the historic elegance of the city of Lucknow. The event commenced with a video based on the City's gorgeous and well renowned sites, followed by a short prayer service which included a graceful spiritual dance performed by the adorable angels of Junior School. We then had another group of girls from Junior School welcoming the esteemed guests with their sweet voices as they sung an array of melodious songs. This was then followed by the entry of a Lucknowi Shayar, who had supposedly travelled back to the city after spending numerous years abroad. Accompanied by his friend Umar Bhaijaan, he now roamed about in the streets of Lucknow, seeking the spark he had missed all these years. Their playful banter and well framed shers as they guided us through the programme kept the audience gleefully engaged. After this, we had the talented dancers of Class XI, performing an alluring act on secularism and unity as they synchronized their steps to the mellifluous number, Murshid Khele Holi. This was followed by another fantastic dance display by Class XIIs who with their talent, blessed the stage with elegantly choreographed footing and steps. It was a wonder to watch them in coordination as they emphasised through their dance, the powerful origin of the Kathak dance form, in the very halls of Awadh. After this, there was a proficiently written and even better executed humorous skit, which portrayed the unusual act of a royal Nawab, learning how to ride a bicycle. The story characterised, by his struggles to adapt to the practice and his jests with the begum were responsible for the echoing mirth and laughter in the Delphine Hart Auditorium. We then had the ceremony of distributing tokens of appreciation and love to the Principals’ for their dedicated service towards the institution, which has been responsible in making Loreto such a pious place for quality education. The day was brought to an end by words of acknowledgment and wisdom by Mrs. Purvita Bagchi, Loreto Bowbazaar, Kolkata. After a walk around the campus, the Principals were taken for a wonderful tour to delve deeper into the heart of the beloved City of Nawabs.
